APOCALYPTIC-WARRIOR

My Z-brush experience

A first time for everything. My experience with Zbrush was very limited. We made small characters and bugs in the past. Nothing to shocking in that to be honest. I had no clue on operating the program, but after these 2 weeks a lot has changed. I have a lot more understanding over the short cuts. Especially the extract button and the GoZ button. I like Zbrush now. The hardest part for me was the start. Figuring out how I wanted to make it was though.

I have used a lot of my skills with 3ds max to position, scale and do minor tweaks to the model. I love how the two programs cooperate and work together.

The Start

I started like many others just from scratch. I wanted to make it fully my own so I did not use any existing base model in the process. I choose for my reference because I like the art style. The mix between organic and machine like shapes really appealed to me. But I wanted it to still be one of my own creations. So, I changed a lot of the concept, but the basic shapes are still in there. I wanted it to be more like an apocalyptic kind of robot suit. That was my end goal. I like what has come out and as one of my first Zbrush creations I am proud of.

The progress

The process went well. My teacher Kenny helped me a lot, by showing me some faster ways and new tools to operate the system. 3ds Max was handy as well for this project. I love to combine the two programs a lot more often. For details and fixing flaws in an object.
